![]() ![]() ![]() LeapGL is a cross platform OpenGL translator that allows OpenGL ES to run natively on a host desktop. The LeapDroid team also developed LeapGL and LeapIO, which has been incorporated into the emulator. LeapDroid uses Virtual Box, as a virtual machine engine, and a modified Android guest image. Two optimizations that the LeapDroid development team implemented include a unique architecture and the reduction of processes generated by the emulator. However, LeapDroid’s stellar gaming performance is the feature that really got me interested in their emulator. A few reasons for this change include fast start-up, simple key mapping, and the ability to create multiple instances. In a previous post I mentioned that I’ve started to use LeapDroid as my primary Android gaming emulator. The team is currently working on compatibility with Summoner’s War and other Android apps, so expect more compatible apps on later LeapDroid releases! The latest LeapDroid release(v1.4.0) has the option to pre-install Pokemon Go and apps to watch China Central Television(CCTV) and other Chinese movies and entertainment. They’ve even placed LeapDroid at the top of their “8 best Android emulators” list. They had many positive things to say about LeapDroid’s sleek look, blazing fast performance, and much more. And not surprisingly, the guys over at Android Authority were pleased with LeapDroid. In other news, Android Authority has recently released a review on LeapDroid. It’s constantly being updated by members of the team, so check back often!
